Applied Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is used to teach skills and modify behaviors. ABA is the practice of applying the science and principles of behavior and learning in a systematic way to alter socially significant behavior in individuals.

ABA therapy fosters basic skills such as looking, listening, requesting, and imitating, as well as complex skills such as reading, conversing, and understanding another person’s perspective. Behavior services include direct 1:1 implementation of behavior support plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This service addresses challenging behaviors that may put the individual’s health and safety, or the safety of others, at risk and can be implemented in the home, community, or on site.

Speech Therapy

At GoldStar, we shape communicative intent to allow each individual to find their voice and connect with the world, through functional and intentional communication.

Our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLP-As) help individuals develop skills for successful communication.  These skills can affect all aspects of everyday life, from communicating basic needs, to developing relationships, to progressing in school.

SLP’s also work with parents and caregivers to provide training and education, as well as work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines at GoldStar, including ABA therapists, case managers, and occupational therapists to ensure the skills learned in speech therapy are carried over to other environments.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy (OT) involves the use of assessment and intervention to develop, recover, and/or maintain the meaningful skills acquired by individuals, groups and communities.

At GoldStar, our approach to OT places emphasis on each individual's needs. It can help with self-care skills, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding, self-regulation, appropriate self-expression, in addition to social awareness. It can also help participants with fine and gross motor skills such as handwriting, shoe tying, and managing buttons and zippers. Through OT, we can also perform movement evaluation for the use of adaptive devices.

GoldStar is currently offering occupational therapy services on-site Monday through Friday for participants of all ages. If you feel OT is a good fit for your child or loved one, please reach out to us!
